For All Those Who Are Staying In During The Tokyo Olympic And Paralympic Games

The Catholic Archdiocese of Tokyo, as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, is currently implementing the policy to allow participation in the Holy Mass only for those who are registered in their respective parishes within the Archdiocese of Tokyo (Tokyo Metropolitan, Chiba Prefecture), limiting the number of parishioners allowed to enter depending on the size of the church building. Visiting churches even during times when the Holy Mass is not being held is also limited only to those who are registered in the parish.

In this connection, we would like to request everyone to please refrain from visiting any Catholic Church within the Archdiocese of Tokyo throughout the duration of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.

I am really very sorry that I have to make such a request. But I am sincerely hoping that you will come and visit Tokyo once again after this pandemic is over. At that time, we will be very happy to welcome you all.

For your information, the St. Ignatius (Kojimachi) Church is live streaming on YouTube every Sunday the Holy Mass in Japanese, English, Spanish and Vietnamese. Although it will not be possible to physically participate in the church, please let us join our hearts together in prayer while watching the live broadcast.
