Mission 2030

We, members of St. Ignatius Church, live an Apostolic Community Life based on a foundation of prayer.
Within modern society there has been a disregard for the value of life; a sense of disconnectedness and isolation; excessive competiveness; disparity, etc., attitudes that are opposing the Gospel. Instead of becoming locked into our own private shells, we choose to live a life that opens the doors of God’s mercy.
We will join our hearts with our companion Jesus Christ and listen to the voices of the poor and weak. Together with our brothers and sisters (Japanese and non-Japanese; young and old) we will live and share the joy of the Gospel. We believe this is our vocation.

FOUR FOUNDATIONAL PILLARS TO FULFILL OUR MISSION

  1. Deepening our prayer: Integrating our faith and life, we must start with prayer, our source of life, in order to live an apostolic life.
  2. Spreading the Gospel: While cooperating mutually and being conscious of our apostolic vocation, we aim to evangelize all of society.
  3. Living community: We welcome all people as we nurture connectedness and communion, so that everyone in our church can feel that “this is my home.”
  4. A new “Collaborative Community”: In order to actualize the ideals above, the Faithful, Religious, and Priests of this parish must create the best organizational structure that will enable optimum cooperation and collaboration of all members.

LIVING COMMUNITY

In line with “Living Community” (3rdPillar), the International Mass is held once a month during 12 noon Mass. It is represented by one ethnic group/community wearing their traditional clothes and doing the second reading in their own language. They sing one of their songs for the Recessional.

On April 23, The International Youth Ministry represented by young adults from different nationalities led the English Mass. The second reading was read in Indonesian language and they sang the very vibrant song, “Malo, Malo Thanks be to God” at the recessional.

May 21, the African community led the 12 noon mass with colorful traditional clothes and an energetic recessional song "Chineke Onyeoma" (Igbo language) meaning “The Good Lord” ~ Thank & Praise the Lord. The second reading was read in Swahili language.

June 4, International mass was also held in commemoration of the consecration of St. Ignatius church. The second reading was read in Chinese. The general intercession was read in different languages representing Cameroon, Philippines, Samoa, Nigeria, Ireland, Japan, and Myanmar. Children from India with their traditional clothes brought up the gifts of bread and wine during the offertory. The choir sang beautifully “Lord, You Have Come” in English and Japanese.
