AYD spirit lives on!

By Kyouhei KOBAYASHI (International Youth Ministry Group, English Mass Reading Group)

Asian Youth Day was the most special moment that happened in my life. I was born a Catholic and I have experienced a lot of special events that strengthened my faith but AYD is one of most unforgettable moments in my life. I have been longing to join this kind of event. For me, it was like an experience of being in the Kingdom of God where everyone will be smiling and happy. We didn't care about our differences and even though we spoke in different languages, we became friends and were able to understand each other with joyful hearts. We sang, danced, cried, laughed and prayed together. Being with thousands of young people sharing faith was the most wonderful experience and a perfect place to be. I had an opportunity to spend time with some of our Muslim brothers and sisters as well. We shared our faiths, and we agreed that we have the same God despite our differences in religion and culture. An encounter with nature was also a good experience for me. I realized how important nature is in our lives. I saw and felt God's love with every person that I met in AYD.

This whole experience has driven my spirit and set my heart on fire. I am eager to share my experience with my fellow youth and the rest of the world. I will do my best to convey this joyful spirit that I have gained from the 7th Asian Youth Day in Indonesia to everyone. AYD spirit lives on!
