LIVING ROSARY - a Marian Devotion that Lives On

The biannual Living Rosary took place on May 27th, 2018 to show love, gratitude and devotion to Mary, the Mother of God and our Mother, too. More than seventy people gathered at 3:30 in the afternoon to pray the rosary as they formed a human rosary at the lawn of St. Ignatius Church.

Before the culmination of the day, Most Reverend Joseph Chennoth, the Apostolic Nuncio to Japan gave his blessings to all and was delighted to see the young people leading the activity to pray for peace and spread the devotion to Mary. It was followed by the human rosary which was recited in 6 languages - English, Spanish, Japanese, Filipino, Indonesian and Vietnamese. Each individual served as one bead and in every start of the mystery of the Rosary, the leader let go of a balloon with a written intention. At the end of the prayer there was a song to Mary. Ave Maria was played and everyone sang it in different languages.

After the Marian prayer, everyone gathered at St. Joseph Hall to hold the monthly “Hang-Out” organized by St. Ignatius International Youth Ministry. The event began with praise and worship, followed by lots of getting-to-know-each-other games to enrich the bonds within the Catholic youth. Socio-cultural activities were also held toward the end of the event wherein various groups showcased their God-given talents through song and dance presentations.

The next Living Rosary will be held in October. We are looking forward to seeing you partake in the event as we all share our devotion to Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary. See you!
